Make New and Mend has a physical presence on the West Coast of Cumbria  in a small town called Millom and is a hub for enthusiasts to sew, sew-cialise and find everything they might need.  We sell an extensive range of fabric and haberdashery, run workshops, undertake repairs, alterations and new makes and have a café and a workshop offering classes and sessions attended by sewists and crafters of all ages and skill levels.

The fashion and interior design industry are both amongst the biggest contributors to pollution and here at Make New and Mend we want to encourage people to make, mend or re-use clothing and soft furnishings contributing to a sustainable future.  It is not only good for the mind and the wallet, but also the environment.

We started our business at the beginning of the pandemic in 2019 from a small shop on the high street and gravitated to a much larger space in September 2021 in the Market Square, making us accessible to the community and visitors to the town.  We will be happy to see you, even if it's just for coffee and cake!
